Back to Basics: The VMA Valve Basics Seminar & Exhibition

Did you make it to Houston this past March 6th and 7th? DFT Valves’ very own Jeff Kane presented as part of one of the best Valve Manufacturers Association (VMA) events that you can attend: the Valve Basics Seminar and Exposition. Aimed as a blend of introductory and mid level presentations, this 2-day program can serve as a practical introduction to valves and actuators, a refresher course and industry update for more seasoned professionals or simply a way to expand valve knowledge for any industry professional who might be interested.

Jeff Kane’s topic of conversation? The check valve, giving an overview of its variations, advantages, and disadvantages. Along with several other presenters talking about everything from control valves to gate valves and more, attendees had a chance to work with piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), and to attend the Seminar’s “Petting Zoo.” No goats or sheep here, though – this was an opportunity to see and handle every valve discussed during the sessions. This kind of hands-on experience was invaluable to the engineering students at the show, and to anyone else who may not have had the opportunity to work with every single type of valve around.

Thank you for reading our first blog! Stay tuned for more discussion of valves of all types, and other industry news.
